Young Adult, Historical Fiction, Children's Books, & Novellas
After so many years, it's finally done.
God of Chaos began as a thought experiment, a final project for a class on the first five books of the Bible at Multnomah University, then Multnomah Bible College, back in 1998. What would the 10 plagues of Egypt have looked like to some random Egyptian? How would they view the plagues?
Over the next 11 years, the idea stayed with me as a nagging, "Maybe I could..."
In 2006, I finally made up my mind to actually work on the project. I had published two books through then-PublishAmerica, now AmericaStar Books, and had been working full time, with little time to write since then. And then David came along and writing, any writing, was sent to the back burner.
Work began in earnest in 2009, when my husband began his Basic Combat Training and his Advanced Infantry Training with the Idaho Army National Guard. That was when my library card began to wear out. I checked out every book on Ancient Egyptian culture from the Treasure Valley public library co-op, downloaded videos, took notes, filled up card box after card box with notes on the culture.
I finally began writing for National Novel Writing Month in November, 2010, easily and quickly cresting the 50,000-word goal. I worked on it for several Camp NaNoWriMos. Sometimes I made my goal, sometimes I didn't. Finally, I wrote "The End" in October, 2015 for an anticipated Hanukkah (December) release date, then I was reminded by my dear husband that Passover (April) would be a better fit for a release—not to mention, it would allow him more time to work on the eBook conversion.
And here we are. The book is now available for order on Amazon. Paperback and eBook are currently available. A hardcover version is coming soon (keep watching the God of Chaos page on this site).
I want to say a special "thank you" to all of my wonderful friends over at the Christian Indie Authors Network and the Iron Sharpening Iron: Christian Speculative Fiction Authors Facebook groups who allowed me to bounce ideas off of them, talk about some of my characters, and who kept encouraging me, even when things got hard. I couldn't have done it without you guys!
